One of my favorite parts of traveling through Greece, and particularly the Greek Islands, is discovering the stays that make a trip feel truly unique. These are the type of places you never want to leave: where mornings are slow, breakfasts come with a sea view, and everything just naturally feels easy. If you’re planning a trip and want a mix of design-forward, boutique hotels and quiet places tucked away from the crowds, this list is for you. These are my personal favorite stays (plus a few on my wishlist!) across the Greek Islands.

If you’re planning a Greek Islands trip and want help choosing which islands pair best together, planning daily itinearies, and navigating ferries: I put everything I know into my curated digital guide: The Insider’s Guide to the Greek Islands. I highlight some of my favorite hotels in Greece below: the ones I consistently recommend for their character, location, or design.

Our Favorite Stays in Greece

These are the places that left a lasting impression, and that I’ve recommended to many friends and family members planning a trip to the Greek Islands. Here are the dreamiest hotels and stays I’ve found in Greece so far.

Blue Sand Boutique Hotel — Folegandros

This spot is perched right above the beach in Agali Bay, and it’s everything you’d want from a Greek island stay: whitewashed walls, cozy balconies, and sea views that make you pause every time you look up. It’s peaceful and laid-back, with the sweetest family-run team. I’d go back in a heartbeat.

Verina Astra — Sifnos

Tucked up on a hill with endless views of the sea, Verina Astra feels like your own private hideaway. The pool is a dream, the rooms are minimalist and calming, and the vibe is slow in the best way. Perfect if you’re looking to totally unplug. Their sister property, Verina Terra, is grounded, earthy and great for families with kids.

Odera Hotel — Tinos

This dreamy hotel is perched overlooking the turquoise waters of the aegean sea on Tinos, an island that far surpassed my expectations. The design here is impeccable, with dramatic sea views from every window and a breakfast spread to swoon over.

MyBlue Cave House — Santorini

One of my favorite stays ever was this traditional cave house in Oia, pictured below (it’s perfectly located in front of the most famous view in Santorini!) This property isn’t a hotel, but rather a Cycladic home rental: you literally can’t get this type of access with a multi-room hotel. Waking up with caldera views and having coffee on our little terrace here was surreal. There are so many Cycladic cave houses to choose from in Santorini, but this one remains my favorite.

Blue-domed church view from inside MyBlue Cave House in Oia, Santorini, with whitewashed interiors and Cycladic details, one of the best places to stay in Greece.

Siora of Paros — Paros

This is another unique property I couldn’t resist adding to my list. We found this stylish Cycladic villa on Paros, just a 3-minute walk from downtown Naoussa. With a private pool, full kitchen, and design-forward spaces, it’s a dream stay on one of the most desirable islands in the Cyclades. Plus, there’s an option to rent the ground floor (2 bedrooms) or the entire home (4 bedrooms), a great option for larger families or friend groups.

Minimalist Mediterranean patio with a private pool, white walls, blooming bougainvillea, and relaxed outdoor seating, one of the best places to stay in Greece. Serene whitewashed Greek interior with arched doorway, earthy decor, and natural textures, one of the best places to stay in Greece.

Wishlist Stays: Boutique Hotels in Greece

These are places I haven’t stayed at yet, but they’ve been on my radar (saved or bookmarked in a tab for way too long). I’m hoping to make it to these properties on a future trip:

  • Hotel Espera — Kimolos
A five-star island retreat on quiet Kimolos where everything slows down. Wellness-focused luxury meets untouched nature, giving space to properly breathe and reset.
  • Perma Suites — Serifos
Tucked into a quiet glen overlooking the Aegean Sea, this adults-only hotel is a true sanctuary for those looking to unwind and find tranquility. I would re-visit Serifos to stay at this property alone!
  • Kapsaliana Village Hotel Crete
This one is a restored olive oil village in the hills of Crete and looks absolutely stunning. Stone buildings, courtyards, and total quiet.
  • Peligoni Club Zakynthos
A beach club-meets-villa concept with cozy coastal vibes. I’ve heard it’s the perfect mix of social and relaxed, and great for families with kids.
  • Domes White Coast — Milos
A refined adults-only retreat on one of my favorite islands. This hotel features 180-degree-views of the Aegean sea, minimalist Cycladic architecture, and insane views.
  • Andronis Minois Paros
This place recently reopened and looks so chic — neutral tones, curved lines, and right by the beach. Definitely on my list for Paros.
  • The Rooster Antiparos
A secluded wellness stay that feels very off-the-grid in the best way. Think linen robes, open-air bathrooms, and slow mornings.
  • Perivolas Santorini
A classic Santorini stay with views for days. Romantic, timeless, and full of character.
  • Panoptis Escape — Mykonos
A hilltop hideaway above Elia Beach with ultra-private boho-luxe villas, dreamy plunge pools, and wide-open Aegean views.
  • Aristide Hotel Syros
A boutique hotel in a neoclassical mansion with curated art and gorgeous interiors. It gives me major design inspiration every time I see it pop up.

If You’re Planning a Greek Islands Trip

The best way to experience the Greek Islands is to choose 2-3 islands and plan an island hopping trip. I always recommend a variety if you’re also going for the first time — each island is so unique and will have its own individual vibe. For instance, combining a visit to the iconic Santorini with the more-laid-back, authentic Folegandros will give you the best of both worlds. Whether you’re going for a honeymoon, a girls’ trip, or just want to unwind somewhere stunning, these stays are all places I’d book again (or finally visit) in a heartbeat.
