Last week we had the pleasure of having a rooftop dinner in one of the most picturesque bohemian-style apartments in Amsterdam, thanks to Vizeat. The dinner was a five-course seasonal menu, with all the dishes made from scratch by our new friend Anne Maike.
We started off with a baked-from-scratch bread loaf served with the most delicious tomato spread and lemonade out on the terrace of her apartment, which overlooked the rooftops of Amsterdam. Anne Maike’s roof garden had amazing views of the city. We were even able to climb up to the very top of her building to see Amsterdam’s famous museum square!
After we devoured the bread (it was soooo delicious) we started with our first course: a spiralized zucchini salad with burrata and herbs picked straight from her garden. Jacob is not a big salad eater, but he couldn’t stop raving about this one! If you want to try some healthy and fresh recipes, book a dining experience at Anne Maike’s apartment.
The weather started to turn so we moved inside for our second salad dish (orange-grapefruit salad with crushed pistachios — yum!), and Anne Maike’s friend Carmen joined us. She helped make the ravioli for our main course. We were so inspired to learn how to make homemade pasta after watching her! We just added a pasta extender to our wedding registry, so now we’re committed.
Everything about the dinner was just excellent. Anne Maike and Carmen both love to cook — they both got involved with Vizeat after wanting to practice different recipes and work on their cooking skills, and it just stuck. Everything from the pasta to the salads and wine was delicious, and I felt like I was having dinner in an Anthropologie catalog!
Once we were significantly stuffed, we learned what was for dessert — homemade dark chocolate gelato served with coffee. If you’re a chocolate lover, you can understand how I was losing my mind over this ice cream.
Jacob and I make it a mission to try a new restaurant every other week in Amsterdam, but this dining experience was one of our favorites. Vizeat operates in over 110 countries around the world on hosted meals, food tours, wine tasting and more — and if you’re visiting Amsterdam I’d book a dinner at Anne Maike’s stat!
P.S. a homemade sushi meal in Japan is now at the top of our bucket list. 😉
Thank you to Vizeat for sponsoring this post.

Post authorMe too! I couldn’t stop obsessing over the decor — and a lot of the plates, decor, etc was handed down to the host by her grandmother! So beautiful…
